The Musée de l’Elysée , a landmark museum in Lausanne (Switzerland) in the area of photography, combines an exhibit with augmented reality content created by teens from a neighboring school.

The exhibit from the photograph Steeve Iunker presented at the Elysée focuses on the modern rites of passage for teens. Ahead of this exhibit, the Museum of the Elysée organized a workshop for a class of the Collège de l’Elysée, a neighboring school. The students , age 14 to 15, were grouped in pairs and used the PixLive Maker platform to create AR content based on one of the chosen photograph. In parallel they provided the visuals for the AR Reader, the mobile application that can be used to scan the enriched images.

A total of 20 images were augmented and instructions are given to the visitor on how download and use the application as they browse through the exhibit.

Altogether, this constitutes a very innovative experiment that allows on one hand the teens to take ownership on some of the art pieces by proposing their own interpretation of the work, using a very modern media; on the other hand, it offers to visitors a complementary view on the photographs.

The exhibit is open until August 28th.
